March Madness

I know this topic refers to some kind of sport....Basketball, yah?
I know, I'm dumb. haha

Well, I feel like my March has been pretty mad.
Lots of new investigators.
Lots of people at church.
Lots of running around.

To add to all that goodness, guess what happened this week?
ANOTHER TRIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sister Frost and I got some pretty tough things thrown at us this week.
I won't get into it, but it's been hard.

BUT here are things I am grateful for:
-Support from my family
-Support from my friends
-Ice cream
-My companion
-AND MY HEAVENLY FATHER!
Seriously guys, God will help you with ANYTHING.
He wants to help us with everything.

You know when Christ says "Abba" when He is suffering.
That's like He's saying "Daddy."
God is our Father.
Cry to Him and He'll help you.
I learned that from President Gerber :)
You also cannot give up when times get hard.

Now, I'm really bad at basketball.
I miss the hoop a lot.
What if in NBA players stopped shooting in a game if they kept missing?
They would ruin any chances they have of making it.

If we do this in life, if we give up after we mess up once or after things get hard, you thwart your chances of ever succeeding.

I think that's the most important lesson I've learned out here.

I love you all!

Have a great week!
Love,
Sister Heywood

I Love Being a Missionary!

Have I told you how much I love being a missionary?

This week 2 investigators came to church and a less-active.
It was a miracle.
I don't think that's ever happened while I've been out here :)

I am so grateful for the Lord.

I'm going to tell you all something personal.
I got a blessing a while ago that told me I would have a trial.
I thought a lot about why I would be told that in a blessing.
Well, it hit me, trials are blessings!
They really are there to build us up.

Now I don't believe that trials make us stronger.
I believe trials show us how strong we are.

Before we came to earth, we knew that it would be tough.
We knew that life wouldn't be easy, but we knew that we were strong enough to face anything.

And shoot, we are the children of God!
Of course we're strong!

This morning in my studies, I read Alma 36.
In this chapter, Alma the younger is talking to his son Helaman.

In verse 3 it says:
"for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day."

Isn't that freaking awesome!

Trust in God and everything is good!
Now this doesn't mean we don't have to work for anything.
We have to work hard, but the Lord will help us.

I know this church is true.
I am so grateful to know about my loving Heavenly Father.
I am so grateful for my brother Jesus Christ who atoned for me.

I love you all!

Have a great week!

Love,

Sister Heywood

Trials are Blessings

Remember my last companion, Sister Graham?
She told me about this prank she's done before on her sister and other companions, so I did it to mine last night.

I took a shower and came out and she was asleep.
After I got dressed and stuff I ran in and shouted:
"Sister Frost! You're on fire! YOU'RE ON FIRE!!!"
She freaked out and screamed, then curled under her blanket.
I got it all on camera.
Beautiful.
Thank you Sister Graham :)

So, as I told you before, missions are not easy.

My new companion is wonderful!
I love her to death!
She drives me a little crazy sometimes, but I still love her.

It's kind of been a trial, but I know this trial is a blessing because it is helping me learn charity.

I have decided for every person that is driving me nuts out here, I need to have charity for.
I am going to pray for charity, study charity and apply what I learn.
I know that it will make me a better missionary and a better person in general.

Yes, there are a lot of people out here who bug me.
Several of them take a breath to start talking and I cringe.
I know, I'm not very Christlike, but I'm working on it.
Humility and charity.
I'm studying hard core.

Miracle of the week!
We had a lesson with the Lord's investigator Martin.
I have been so privileged to be the tool God used to find and teach him.
This Sunday was stake conference and Martin came!
I was so happy.
I had investigators that came to church when I was in Ann Arbor before, but they weren't progressing.
After that, I've never seen an investigator at church until now.
I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!

At the last lesson with Martin, we had a member with us.
I want to share my testimony on members and missionary work.
I have a badge, so people think I'm not normal.
If you don't have a badge, people see you as normal.
People will listen to your testimony way more than they will listen to mine, so share it!
Share it loud and proud!

I love you all!

D&C 6:34
Therefore, fear not, little aflock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are bbuilt upon my rock, they cannot prevail.

California Girl Driving in the Snow

So it snowed the day before yesterday and I am the driver.
No worries.
I am alive.
We just barely made it up the giant snow covered hill (probably the only big hill in Michigan).
BUT my new companion Sister Frost assured me I was doing a good job.

You know I've learned a lot of skills out here that I never thought I would learn on a mission:
-How to use power tools.
-How to use a hand saw
-How to play pool
-How to drive in snow
-How to track people down when they don't want to be found
-How to say Sister in Chinese

I know.
Basically I'm Super Woman now.

Well, let me tell you about Sister Frost.
I love her!
She's from Utah.
She's short.
She's great.
We get along really well, so that's good.

I've already shot her with the nerf rocket we have and she doesn't hate me for it, so that's good.
I think this is going to be a good transfer. :)

We have two awesome investigators, both from China, and I love them.
They are progressing!
Pray for them:
Yifei and Martin. :)

I am so grateful to be a missionary.
I am so privileged to be a part of God's army.
I know this work to be of God.
I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true!

Love you all!
Have an awesome week!

Love,
Sister Heywood
